EML Tools

About EML Tools

EML Tools exists because .eml files turn up everywhere: exported from Gmail, attached to other emails, pulled from a backup or handed over by a colleague. They are just saved emails, but opening one often means installing a mail app you don't use.

Outlook's .msg files, the winmail.dat attachments Outlook sends to everyone else, and whole mailboxes exported as .mbox from Gmail Takeout or Thunderbird have the same problem, so they're covered too.

Every tool here reads the file inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, which matters when the email holds contracts, invoices or anything personal.

The tools are tested on real files, not tidy examples: Outlook messages and winmail.dat files from the test data of Apache POI, the open-source Java library for Microsoft formats, including old .msg files in Chinese and Cyrillic code pages, and Gmail-sized mailboxes of up to 3 GB and 20,000 emails.
